Last weekend we embarked on a crazy-fun, action-packed road trip up north. You know, the kind of trip when you momentarily forget how difficult it is to travel with small children and convince yourself that you should cram your days (and nights) with as much visiting and activity as is humanly possible?
It was stressful to drive with two Little Ones to Maryland, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania, all within the span of just 5 days. But all of the effort was totally worth it.
I’ll give you 6 reasons why…
Cousin Love!
Our road-trip extravaganza began with a stop in Annapolis with Nena and Pops.
Here’s the Little Miss celebrating the Birthday Girls. Just a reminder, in case you forgot from last year, I am now (and will always be) “29 and a bit.” Nena, well, she’s more like “29 and a wee bit more.” Though if you ask our Little Leading Lady, Nena and I (and all people for that matter) are “TWO!”
After giving our kiddos lots of hugs and kisses, Mike and I high-tailed it out of there for 36 hours of relaxing child-free time. We drove to New Jersey to celebrate Mike’s cousin’s wedding. And you wanna know the first thing we did when we got to the hotel? Took a nap, of course! It was awesome.
But don’t feel too bad for the abandoned Little Miss and Mister. They were spoiled rotten by Nena and Pops, and got to be entertained by my super-fun cousin, Ellie, and her sweet son, Alex.
After having a blast celebrating Mary and Brian’s wedding (and a night of sleep without baby monitors perched by our heads), we trekked to Philly to meet up with Nena and the kids, and spend time with my sister’s family.
If you don’t have any big sisters, then you gotta have doting older cousins like these!
I’m pretty sure I didn’t have to hold my Little Mr. Chunky-Chunk the whole visit.
He was in good hands!
The Little Miss may call the shots at our house, but she’s no match for the spirited Mr. Caleb!
Sweet Mr. Liam may have been a bit overrun by the ladies during the weekend…
But that was okay with him, so long as his Nena was nearby!
Nena and I even got to go watch Emily and Haley show off their mad athletic skills. And Emily scored a goal in her soccer game!
Caleb is quite the baller himself, and Liam is the cutest cheerleader you’ve ever seen.
It was a fun (and exhausting) trip. We can’t wait to do it again!
It was a kick to have Annabelle and Elliott to ourselves and to have all the grandkids together! We loved every minute. And by the way, Annabelle is more accurate on my age – two sounds just right!
Great pix and story line. Sounds like a good time by all.
Love you all.
These pictures were terrific! Thanks for posting so many of them. By the way, congratulations to both birthday girls being so young! Through the eyes of a child, right? Seeing the photos made me nostalgic remembering times with my cousins as a wee child. You’re building life-time memories for Annabelle and Elliott.
Love and Hugs to all,
Martha and Jeff
