Ever wondered what herding cats looked like?
Just picture this…
1 pool
5 three year olds
0 attention spans
1 swim instructor (bless you, Abby)
Or in other words…SWIM LESSONS!
As the conscientious (a.k.a. worry wart) Mama that I am, I thought that this summer would be a great time to start honing the Little Missy’s swimming skills. I mean, how am I going to ever relax at the pool or beach again (with book in hand) if my Little Gal can’t stay afloat?!
Ha. “Relax.” That’s a good one.
But seriously, I was excited for her to become more comfortable in the water, learn a few skills, and (please God!) burn off a little of her (boundless!) energy. So alongside two of her great pals from preschool (Connor and Madelyn), I signed her up for swim lessons.
Here’s the Little Miss and Connor. Madelyn is around somewhere. Did I mention it was like herding (sopping wet) cats?!?!?
Despite her short attention span, I know the Little Miss had a ball…and even learned a bit!
Like “ice cream scoops” (paddling with her arms) and kicking…
Floating on her back…
(a.k.a. Toddler Zen)
Jumping off the side of the pool (no hands!)…
Followed by “jumping” off the diving board…
And finishing class with a celebratory ride on the water slide!
(I did it with her a few times as well. I can attest…it’s still super fun. Even with an I’m-a-parent-so-I’m-tired-and-creaky-all-the-time body!)
And in case you were worried about the whereabouts of the Little Mister, rest assured. He was there…snackin’ with his entourage of lovely ladies.
Poor Little Second Borns. They were good sports.
Suffice to say, it wasn’t the most relaxing experience for this here Mama (and my fabulous Mommy Pals), but the Little Miss had fun! And even gained some mad new skills while she was at it!
These are some great pictures!
I have no doubt she’s a fish in the making – and soon be out-lapping her mama!
Sounds like great swim lessons with lots of fun water activities…and Elliott looks happy as a clam eating his treats. Great pixs. Wonderful writing as well.
Love you all.
