Bless a Mama’s Heart

The Little Miss has done so well at school.  Each time I’ve dropped her off, she’s run into the classroom, given her teacher a big hug, and started playing with her pals.

Until today.

The morning started a little rough when she awoke unusually fussy.  Then, as we walked up the pathway to the church building, she started whining and “fake crying.”  And finally, when we arrived to the classroom, she broke down.

As in red face, runny nose, big rolling tears – broke down.

She grabbed my legs and hid her face behind them as she wailed.  Trying to help, Miss Pam scooped my Little Miss into a big hug so that I could make a quick exit.  I felt overwhelmed with sadness and guilt, and had to muster a ridiculous amount of Mama-willpower to walk away.

My poor baby.

Unable to contain myself, the Little Mister and I arrived 15 minutes early so we could be sure to be the first ones at the door when class ended.  We waited outside, listening to the 11 happy 2-year-old voices sing and pray.

When Miss Pam released the Little Miss, my sweet girl squealed “MOM-MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!” as she ran into my arms for a big hug.

And then, as we drove home, she gave me this huge smile and said:

“Annabelle make happy!  Annabelle got to see Mama!”

Right then and there, my heart melted.

My kid rocks.
