Fall Fun

The air is brisk.

The trees are changing colors.

And the Wright family social calendar is full to the brim.

IT’S FALL!

(Stinky) Cast Removal!!!

So the Lil Sir breaking his arm during our trip to San Diego was a BIG TIME bummer.  And a headache.  And a wallet killer.  And a Mama-anxiety-inducer.

And so our visit to Duke Orthopedics to have the cast removed was pretty much the best day ever!

Farm Outing with our Bible Study families

We’re part of a big bible study this year…I’m talking 20 adults and 27 kids big.  We’re enjoying getting to know everyone, especially when that entails a fun outing to a farm festival!

Grammie and Poppy came too! I had some cute photos of them with the boys, but I got into a fight with my phone and LOST.

Julie: 0  /  Iphone: 1

Thankfully other folks took photos too.

And I hate technology.

The Little Miss missed the outing, but she was having plenty of her own fun at her first ever Girl Scouts camp-out!

She also came back super tired and cranky (and really needing to pee), but I guess that’s just life at a sleepover.

Tons of Play Outdoors with our New Neighbors

We’re so thankful for our new home, and our new neighborhood.  The Littles are making new buddies and having a blast.  Living on a safe culdesac is the best.

And my children never want to be inside anymore.

Score for Mommy!

Duke Sports!

We live super close to Duke now, which is great for Mike’s commute, and great for our love of (free) Duke sports. Truth be told, the Hubs would rather be cheering for the Demon Deacons, but whatev.  He knows deep down (like way way deep down) that the Blue Devils reign supreme.

The Lil Mister (thanks to his Daddy) even won a shirt.  He thought it was pretty swell, though still second in rank to the massive chocolate milkshake his parents gave him so that he’d sit (kinda, sorta) still for (most of) the game.

Notice the Little feet making a photo bomb.  That’s the Lil Sir…playing a game on my phone.  Because you know, massive chocolate milkshakes can only take you so far.  When you’re 3, that is.  And full of OPINIONS.

Parties Galore with Friends

I’m a professional Kid Birthday Party Attendee.  It’s a fact.

And I don’t really mind…so long as there’s cake.

And everyone’s favorite…
Awkward Family Photo Shoots!

(a.k.a. Fodder for all of our Future Marriage Counseling Appointments)

So there you have it.  A snapshot (or many) of some of the things we’ve been enjoying this fall.

It’s a fun (read: busy!) time.

And we have much to be thankful for.

Just ask Batman.

Fall Musings

Just the other day the Little Miss said to me, with a BIG emotive sigh and her classic pensive wrinkled brow…

“MOM.  I decided – I just CAN’T WAIT to be 30.”

To which I laughed, put on my best all-knowing-yet-loving-mommy-look, and gave her some sort of response (that I’ve already forgotten but I’m sure was absolutely brilliant) about how there’s nothing better than being a kid, and she doesn’t need to rush to grow up, and old people like Mama are slow and creaky, and, and…well, go run off and have some fun.

And you know what?  It’s true.

It’s pretty grand to be a kid.  Especially in the fall.

Like having smores and sparklers with pals on cool fall evenings…

(Dinner is served.)

And getting to be as wild and silly as you want at your school’s Halloween party…

(Sugar in, crazy OUT!!!)

20_IMG_0725

(Sigh.  Do you think he’ll let me dress him up like this again next year?
And the year after that?!?)

(Just had to throw these two in.  Because HANDLE BARS.)

a certain Little Sir Farmer from his big metal steed.)

Family excursions to find the very best pumpkins this side of the Mason-Dixon line…

And finding time to enjoy the season with people we love.

(A certain Little Miss may have been allowed to  play hookie from school so she could
spend time with an “old” school pal who was tracked out for a few weeks.)

19b_IMG_0714

(“Happy birthday, Pops!  Wow, you must be old!  Are YOU 30 yet?!”)

19a_IMG_1567

Yeah, being a kid is where it’s at.

And thank goodness I’m not 30 yet!!! (*cough*)
