Our Little Christmas Dancer

Christmas greetings!  Well, given that it’s nearing the end of January I guess it would be more appropriate to say: “Christmas greetings…a month belated!”

As I mentioned in our last post, we spent the holiday with Mike’s family in Delaware.

We had a fun few days together and, as always, the Little Miss had a blast with her cousins, aunts, uncles and grandparents.  Though truth be told, her heart was captured by another very special being…err, thing…Grandpop’s  remote control train.  It was love at first sight (and quite a handy distraction when Mommy and Daddy wanted a break!).

When not completely captivated by the train, the Little Miss entertained herself (and everyone else) with all sorts of fun little games and antics.  Here’s a special moment that Daddy was able to capture on camera…

“Why is Grandpop wearing a tie with his T-shirt?”, you may be asking yourself.  I cannot say…Eggnog does funny things to people, I guess.  But the Little Dancer thought he had style!

It was a great trip and holiday!

Though this does come a month belated, we hope that your Christmas was a wonderful time with loved ones and – most importantly – a joyful celebration of the birth of Jesus, our Lord and Savior!

A Christmas Smorgasbord

Hello people!  So admittedly, we’ve been pretty bad about blogging over the past few weeks.  Rest assured, all are well in the Wright household after a very happy and fun holiday.

Here are some snippets from the past month.  We spent Christmas in Delaware with Mike’s family (more on that in a later post), and then rang in the New Year at home in Durham.

First is the Little Miss picking out our Christmas tree…
(Betcha wouldn’t guess that our Little Sleepyhead was cranky for much of this outing.  Suffice to say, a family photo in front of our new tree was a “NO GO”.  But we brought home a beautiful tree!)

Now I know you are all thinking to yourselves, “What did the Little Miss get from Santa?!?”

Well…the jolly fellow actually made a special trip back to Durham, after we returned home from Delaware, to deliver some holiday cheer (in the form of a play kitchen, rocking horse, and musical instruments) to our Little Elf.  We had a merry 2nd Christmas morning with just the Little Miss, Mommy, and Daddy.

 

It was a sweet time together, to be sure.  We look forward to celebrating as a family of FOUR next year!

Thanksgiving…in rewind

So November was a tough month for the Wrights.  For us, it will go down in memory as “The Month of Infamy”, or more accurately “The Month of Illness”, because despite our best efforts, we found ourselves slammed with one malady after another.  First there was the stomach flu, followed by my thrilling emergency appendectomy, then croup (for the Little Miss) and colds (for her parents), and finally another rendezvous with the stomach flu.  Yuck.  Suffice to say, being sick so often was NOT fun.  But we survived, and are hoping that healthier times are in our future.

Nevertheless, we still managed to spend a very happy – and healthy! – Thanksgiving holiday with Nena and Pops.  We were also excited to be joined by our dear friend, Fielding, who has been a wonderful pal since our days together at Duke business school.

Here’s a photo of the Plaxico-Wright clan, about to partake in our Thanksgiving feast.  And yes, the Little Lady’s location at the table does accurately reflect her position in our family. 🙂

And the next one is with Fielding.  As you can see, The Little Miss is becoming quite the Little Prayer Warrior, and loves to say “AMEN!” before, during and after the blessing for any meal.

Thanks to Nena and Pops, the food was delicious.  The Little Miss liked it all, but most especially the dessert!  She’s a Little-Chip-Off-the-Old-Block!

Though we know this blog post is very belated, we want to wish you all a very Happy Thanksgiving!  We hope it was a weekend full of great fun, family, friends and FOOD for you as well!
