The Little Mister’s First Hair-Cut (Sob!)

I’ve been dreading writing this post.  DREADING.

Why?

Well, because it means that I’ve caved in to external pressure and cut my Little Boy’s hair.  And can you blame me?  Look at these adorable, sweet, wild, and wonderful curls!

(Bear with me here.  Foreseeing this unfortunate event I’ve been taking photos of his hair like a woman obsessed.)

Oh how I love my Little Mister Curls!  Sure, his hair had gotten so long that he often looked more like a Little Crazy Professor, but it just added to his charm!

But I caved.  Due to the fact that I seem to make babies who are especially talented at embodying everyone’s favorite “business in the front, party in the back!” hair-do, I finally gave in and decided it was time for a cut.  Sob!

So the Little Mister and I had a special date with destiny, and with the help of the fabulous Gina The Hairstylist, transformed him into my Little Mister Man.

(He wasn’t a big fan of the whole strange-lady-I-don’t-know-is-coming-at-me-with-sharp-scissors scenario.  But with an “assist” from Mommy and the distraction of a good book, we overcame.)

My Little Mister Darling is a Little Mister HANDSOME!  I can’t even stand how grown-up he looks with his snazzy new “do.”

But for all those of you who weep with me at the loss of the Little Mister’s adorable curls, never you worry.

I’ve already decided I’m going to let him grow them back.  Ha ha!

A (Little) Man of Many Talents

Hot off the press!  The Little Mister has taken his first steps!

Well, truth be told, he took them several weeks ago.  But the Little Guy is so fast, so wiggly, and so silly that he has been hard to catch on camera.

See what I mean?

The Little Man is also talking up a storm these days.  Here are some of my favorites:

– “Ma-Ma!” and “Da!”
– “Ah-Buh!” and “Ah-Bell!” for Annabelle
– “Ta-Dah” for Teddy
– “Yie-Yie” for night-night
– “Mo” for more
– “Eh!” for pretty much everything else…like Hi, Pay attention to me, Do you see how cute I am?
– Grammie and Poppy heard him say “Tank-U” tonight after they gave him a cracker.  What a Little Charmer!

Makes a Mama proud.

When he’s not walking or talking, he’s eating, wrestling with his Big Sis, or tearing my house apart.  And by “apart” I mean pulling out every single cooking item I own, throwing it onto the floor, and turning his pile of goodies into a crazy-loud drum set.  Many of our cabinets are child-proofed, of course, but he often catches me when I accidentally leave them open.

And sometimes I just let him get away with it because, whatever.  It’s funny.

The Little Mister ONE YEAR OLD!

Our Little Mister Birthday Boy turned ONE on June 15!

JBday

In honor of the big day, he got his very own (recycled) birthday sign!

Sigh.  It ain’t easy being the second born.  I speak from experience.

And admittedly, it’s tough for us to be super creative when you have an anniversary, four birthdays, Mother’s Day, and Father’s Day, all within the span of just three months!

Oh, and when you are tired and a wee bit lazy.  That too.

But I digress.  Back to the Little Man of the hour.

Our Little Birthday Boy wasn’t all that into his monthly photo shoot, but with a little help from his Big Sis we persevered…

And given how joyful he usually is, it wasn’t hard to find other happy shots of him showing off his fabulous one-year-old-self!

He’s such a doll.  We can’t get enough of him.

For his big day, I made a yummy cake with chocolate frosting that will knock your socks off (thank you very much, Cook’s Country!).

We’re not sure how much the Little Mister “got” the whole cake-and-candle-thingy, but not to worry.  The Little Miss was ready to help out!  (No surprise, she is ready and amped for her birthday to arrive on July 9th!)

But when all was said and done, one thing was (is) for sure.

The boy likes cake.

It was a GREAT day.  Proceeded by a GREAT year.

We can’t wait to see what happens next.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, LITTLE MISTER!
