A Look Back: Happy Stars and Stripes!

Hey Peeps.  It’s me, the Little Miss.  The Little Mister is around too…he’s just taking a nap…on Mommy.  That poor woman.  Someone needs to get her a massage (hint hint, Daddy!).

Well I’ve gotta tell you, we’ve have quite a summer.  It all kicked off with my Little Brother being born in June.  I think he’s pretty cool, though he doesn’t do much these days other than eat, sleep, and make “stinky poo-poo diapers” (as I like to call them).  But I love holding him and giving him big smooches.  And I love it when he smiles at me.  My only problem is all of the new rules I have to follow, now that he’s around.  Mama’s always telling me things like “be gentle,” “use a quiet voice,” “don’t push the swing when baby brother is sleeping,” and “he doesn’t like it when you stick your finger up his nose.”  Sheesh!  What’s a girl gotta do to have some fun around here?  And I’m pretty sure that my Baby Bro would love me to sing loudly as I push him “big high” in the swing…all while picking his nose for him!

Anyhoo, we’ve done lots of fun things over the summer.  One of my favorite days was when we went to a July 4th party with my best pal, Mini Mug, and his family.  It was so fun (and hot!)!

There were balloons…

Yummy treats galore…

A fire truck that we got to explore (I’m pretty sure that my pal and I would be awesome fire fighters)…

And a stars and stripes parade!

Sweet wheels, huh?  The car is not mine, but being the assertive Little Lady that I am, I took it upon myself to give it a whirl.  And can you blame me?!  I look GOOD!

In case you were wondering, the Little Mister was there too.  He was only a few weeks old then, so he spent the afternoon snoozin’ in his stroller.

Now for all of you who are worried that the Little Sleeper got the short end of the stick, while we partied it up with cotton candy, snow cones, games, parades, and more, let me put you at ease.  We may have had a great time, but he got to kick back and enjoy a little R&R while we (i.e. Mama) pushed him around and sweated it out in the hot, hot North Carolina sun.

Little Mister: “Chumps!”

Yeah, he’s a smart Little One.  I’m gonna have to keep my eye on him…

We hope you all had a Happy 4th of July!  And a fun summer, too!

P.S.  We all must have been lookin’ good that day, because a reporter pulled Daddy aside to ask him about the festivities.  I’m not sure what Daddy told the guy, but I’m a little worried that he doesn’t know who we are!  …Or that reporter-guy is a little bit lazy with his note-taking skills.  Either way, check out the link to see what I mean…

The Little Mister is 1 Month Old! (July 15th)

This blog post is one week late, as I don’t seem to have any free time (or brain power) these days.  But, I am so happy to announce that our sweet Little Mister turned 1 month old on July 15th!

And just like his Big Sis, he is rockin’ the charts with his development.  It’s becoming clear to me, and our pediatrician, that I am raising giants…or future Olympians.  Either way, my kids are good eaters and even better grow-ers.

We’re partying it up in Delaware with the Little Man’s Grammie and Poppy right now, so I don’t have all of the numbers on me (and thinking I might actually remember them with my current level of fatigue is just silliness).  But what I can recall is that my Little Athlete-in-Training is…

97% in height, at 23 1/4 in
95% in weight, at 12 lb 13 oz
80% in head circumference, at 38.5 cm

Here are some shots from his daily calisthenics with the Little Miss.  Gotta get in shape!

In other happy news, my Little Bugaboo is slowly but surely turning into a good Little Sleeper.  I only had to get up once last night to feed him…wahoo!  After now 5 weeks of very little sleep, due to the whole good-eating-thing, I am one pleased Mama.

But no matter how much (or how little) sleep the Little Mister gives me, I adore him through and through!

Little Mister Handsome

We’ve loved our first week and a half with the Little Mister!  He’s a total sweetheart who loves to cuddle as he sleeps the day away.

Now this tired Mama just needs her Little Man to like sleeping at night just as much!  To be fair, he would and could sleep more soundly at night…if only I held him the entire time.  Seeing as though that would kill my back, as well as not be very safe (for him) or restful (for moi), we’ll just have to keep working on acclimating him to a normal sleep schedule.

Despite his nocturnal propensities, our Little Mister is an absolute doll who brings so much joy to our home and family.

When he’s not sleeping he’s EATING!  This kid has quite the appetite, and needs to “fill ‘er up!” every 1 to 2 hours.  With all of that great eating, our Little Chubs is doing quite well in the weight department.  When we left the hospital he was down to about 8 lb 14 oz.  But after just one week of round-the-clock “bonding” with his doting Mama, he was already up to 9 lb 14oz!

I’m convinced that he’s storing it all up for an amazing 7-hour stretch of sleep he’s going to give me one of these nights.  It’s coming…I can feel it!  Well, maybe in a few months, that is.

Being a modest little guy, his first encounter in the bath was somewhat traumatic.  But we all survived…and I managed to actually clean the poor, irritated Little Chap.

Thankfully, round #2 went much more smoothly and peacefully…with all parties happy and smelling divine!

We adore our Little Mister and are so glad that he is a part of our family!

Signing off (for now), here are the TWO Mister Handsomes in my life…

…The Little Miss and I love them both!

(Why yes, that is spit-up on my shirt.  Don’t judge.
I’m just glad that I managed to shower that day!)
