Last Day of School

The childhood anthem School’s out for the summer! School’s out for-EVER! used to fill me with such glee and hopeful anticipation.  And now, well now it just makes me feel old.  And tired.  And a wee bit frantic.  But here we are (or were, a few weeks ago), at the end of another school year.  And all I can think to myself is…where in the heck did the time go?!?

We absolutely love our kids’ preschool…Triangle Presbyterian Preschool and Kindergarten.  The teachers and staff there have taken incredible care of our family through 3 very full, very overwhelming, very crazy years.  We are so grateful for TPPK.

As the school year came to an end we were able to celebrate our budding Little Scholars with their teachers and classmates.

We kicked things off with the Little Mister’s Ducks class and the fabulous Miss Pam…

(The Little Mister was one very proud Little Duck.)

And then concluded the day with the Little Missy’s Frogs class, and the wonderful Miss Tara and Miss Amy…

It’s been a great year.  Sob!

Undeterred by all of his Mama’s moans and groans, our Little Sir is VERY happy about school being over and his siblings finally being home with him to play (Read: wrestle, scream, and tear the house apart).

In closing, I feel the urge to expose my age with yet a few more song references…
(Pay no attention to Mike shaking his head in embarrassment in the background.)

And so we embark on another summer with a diaper bag full of snacks, a calendar full of outings, and minivan full of jubilant Littles who are Walking on Sunshine as they imagine what lies ahead.  All while their Mama chugs down her coffee and reminds herself over and over that come what may,
I Will Survive!

A Day for Daddy at Preschool

The Big (Little) Kids got to bring Daddy to preschool today for a very special Father’s Day celebration.

M1

They were SO EXCITED.  I’m pretty sure the Little Mister didn’t sleep a wink the night before…Which would explain all of the SASS he gave his poor Mama the rest of the day.  Though the child is 2 1/2 years old, so sass seems to come with the (exasperating, maddening) territory.

Armed with their favorite Red Head, oodles of sugary donuts, and a room full of adrenaline-crazed preschool buddies, the Little Mister and Little Miss had a blast.

I’ll let the photos they sent me speak for themselves…

And Daddy scored big-time.  He deserved it…we love him so.

M6

Happy (early) Father’s Day to the best Daddy in the whole wide world!

End note: In case you were wondering, the kids’ (devoted, hard working, saint-like even) Mama did not spend the morning eating donuts and receiving presents.  In an interesting twist of fate, this Mama found herself in the dentist’s chair having my teeth cleaned and listening to Kenny G’s greatest hits (as if there are any?!?).  Dreary though that may sound, I did take some solace in learning that while Daddy is the ripe old age of “15,” I am still “just 14 years old.”  So says the Little Miss.  That and a box of chocolates will get me…well…another trip to the dentist.  And some (youthful) bragging rights.

First Day of School ~ 2014

This was a big day for the Little Miss and Little Mister…

Today was their first day of school!

(a.k.a. Independence Day for Summer-Weary Parents)

S1

The Little Miss will be in the 4-year-old (PreK) Frogs class.

And the Little Mister, in his educational debut, will be in the 2-year-old Ducks class.

They were both so excited!

S2

S3

Parents join the kiddos for their first day experiences,
so Mike bonded with the Frogs while I boogied with the Ducks.

Never one to be left out of the fun, our Little Sir Chubs was well
entertained by his fabulous Aunt/Godmother Erin.

We love her so!

S5

It was a fun day for everyone and a great start to the new school year.

And now all I can say is…

LET FREEDOM RING, BABY!  LET FREEDOM RING!
