A Happy Halloween…with a Cerebral Twist

Hoping you all had a very

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

We Wrights never like to do anything simply, so we kicked things off with a rip-roaring night of revelry and trick-or-treating with friends in our awesome new neighborhood…

And yes, the annual MUSTACHE-BASH was totally included in the fun.  Cause you know, it’s a Mommy requirement.

So fun…so sugary…so super…so muscular, even!

We even managed to carve pumpkins before the holiday this year (a feat we did not pull off the last time around, which the Littles liked to remind us about…frequently).  So that felt like a win.

And then we wrapped things up by sending the Littles off to Grammie and Poppy’s house so that Mike could have brain surgery the next day.

Yep, you heard me right.

BRAIN SURGERY.  What in the what?!?

The send-off included lots of prayers and tears, of course.  And the Lil Sir leading us in reciting Psalm 23.

GO BIG OR GO HOME.

…Or more like, to the hospital.

With God at the helm, two incredible surgeons, and loving family and friends all around, the Big Guy made it through like a champ.  And after 2 nights at Duke Hospital he is mending at home.

PRAISE THE LORD!

And goodbye brain tumor.  For ever and ever and ever!!!

(We pray.)

This is what the surgery looked like…according to the Lil Mister.

“Storm the (brain) castle!  Begone ye foul tumor villains!”

The Littles did great.  They got to spend a long weekend at Grammie and Poppy’s house with their Aunt Laura and Uncle Jon, who took the best care of them and took them out on all sorts of adventures.

Aunt Laura and Uncle Jon even get the Little Mister all suited up with his first Cub Scouts uniform, which he is BEYOND excited about.

Grammie and Poppy Wright, and Nena and Pops Plaxico gave us tons of help and love too.

As well as Aunt Ashley and Cousin Haley!

The love was a-flowin’.  Just like the pain meds.

(The word “headache” has a whole new meaning to the Big Fella these days.)

So there you have it.  Our last week in a nutshell.  Or should I say in a pumpkin?

It’s been quite a few days – days that I look upon with fond memories, emotional relief, and an incredible amount of gratitude.

GOD IS GOOD.

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever…When hard pressed, I cried to the Lord; he brought me into a spacious place. The Lord is with me; I will not be afraid…Shouts of joy and victory resound in the tents of the righteous: “The Lord’s right hand has done mighty things! The Lord’s right hand is lifted high; the Lord’s right hand has done mighty things!” I will not die but live, and will proclaim what the Lord has done…You are my God, and I will praise you; you are my God, and I will exalt you. Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.

Lil Sir’s Unexpected Milestone

So this just happened…

Suffice to say,

Boy + Coffee Table = Boy Tooth

Sadly, the math works out.

Though after witnessing all of the Tooth Fairy visits to his older siblings, this Little (ToothLESS) Boy ain’t too sad about it!

His Mommy does not feel the same.  (Sob!)

But he’s still my Lil Darling and still just as smoochable as ever.

(And well informed that the Tooth Fairy is ON BREAK until he is at least 5 or 6, by golly!!!)

Sleep well, sweet babe.

And dream of mouth guards, helmets and duct tape.
