Someone call the police.
I can’t find my baby girl anywhere!!!

Red lips.
Pink cheeks.
Fancy hair.
High heeled shoes.
And a dapper date.

Ready to dance like it’s 2018!!!

It’s good to be FOUR.

Even if it breaks your Mama’s heart a bit.

Morning revelries

Afternoon festivities

Evening jollities

Preschool frivolities!

Life is GOOD.

The rhythm and cadence of this was inspired by Walt Whitman’s “O Captain! My Captain!” – a poem written in honor of Abraham Lincoln, whose birthday falls just before the Little Sir’s. It is written with the hope and prayer that our Little Sir will follow in his predecessor’s footsteps with a life of learnedness, faith, and courage.
********
O Little Sir! Sweet Little Sir! I can’t believe you’re FOUR;
It feels as if I blink an eye you’ll grow up and be out the door.

My baby! Darling baby! We love our snuggles with you.
You surprised us with your arrival, and completed our merry crew.

O Little Bro! Devoted Little Bro! You hold your siblings dear;
Following along without complaint, a good sport who’s ready to cheer.

My helper! Mommy’s helper! My Little Sous Chef boy;
Especially when there’s baking to do, and chocolate to enjoy.

O jokester! Such a jokester! You always make us smile;
With a look or a trick or a silly limerick, we’re laughing for a mile.

A thinker! Quiet thinker! You’re wise beyond your years;
With bright eyes that watch and soak it all in, and thoughts that bring forth proud Mama tears.

O calm one! Precious calm one! So unlike the older two;
You keep up with their crazy for a while, but know when a rest is due.

My Boss Man! Strong-willed Boss Man! You have opinions that are all your own;
Not controlled by the tide, you’re on your own ride, and get your way when your fuel tank is blown.

O resilient one! Strong resilient one! You’re our own Little Superman;
Facing trials with grace and a patient happy face, would we all could follow your game plan.

An adventurer! Brave adventurer! You’re always up for a thrill;
Seeking mountains to climb and monsters to tame, the “bad guys” this Lil Hero must kill.

O Little Sir! Our Little Star! This day for you we do sing —
This day for you our hearts rejoice, for all this next year will bring!
