Despite what fair Juliet may tell you,
A rose by any other name would smell as sweet
names are important. When chosen well, they can be jam-packed with so much meaning…like a person’s heritage, or what the parents hope for in a child’s character, future, and so on. That’s why we have always put a lot of time and prayer (and the occasional argument) into choosing our children’s names, and we cherish them all the more for it.
Annabelle Jane Wright
Elliott Michael Wright
William Henry Christopher Wright
…All deeply personal and meaningful to us, all reflecting the immense love we feel for our Littles.
And so it is with the same gusto – albeit with a big dollop of silliness loaded on top – that we embarked upon naming our Little #3 for the blog. I mean, who are you these days if you don’t have a super cool online identity?!? Yeah, not really. We just like using fun nicknames for our babies.
With our goal in mind we thought…
And thought…
We knew that his nickname had to mesh with that of the “Little Miss”…
And the “Little Mister”…
And yet it still had to be a name all his own.
(No “Little Mister #2” for us…No sirree bub-skee. That would be way too pedestrian for the likes of the Wright family!)
His name had to encompass all that he is.
To start, our Little #3 is the sweetest little guy and cute as a button…
And he is oh-so snuggly and smoochable.
Great news for this here Mama, he is also quite the calm and relaxed little fella…
(Probably a prerequisite when you are #3!)
And can be such a thoughtful and distinguished little gentleman.
But just like his Big Sis and Bro, you should never count him out. He has tons of personality and knows how to make his opinion heard.
Harkening back again to wise ‘ole Willy Shakespeare…
Though [he] be but little, [he] is fierce
Keeping all of this in mind, I perused the thesaurus for inspiration…
Should he be our Little Prince? It certainly seemed to go with his actual name, but I didn’t think that elevation in his status would go over well with the rest of the troops.
Daddy made a push for him becoming our Little Master. But to me, that sounded like he was either going to whoop us into shape, or break out into some horrible sounding rap song…and neither outcome was all that appealing.
Or maybe he could be our Little Senior? Or our Little Monsieur? Alas, those names sounded like we had come down with a bad case of Misplaced Heritage.
No, none of those names seemed right. None of them were fitting.
It was a puzzle.
And then it came to me. The best and right name for what was once our Little Mystery would now be…
Little Sir
Little Sir William. I think it’s perfect. Just like him.
It is perfect! And I know the “distinguished gentleman” (love that photo) would approve. Cheers to our precious Little Sir!
I love it. I love his name and I love your sharing!!! 🙂 Can’t wait to hear about all upcoming adventures! 🙂
Love it! Perfectly told story, too.
Great story, great pictures and perfect name. Very fitting.
Love you all.
