First Communion for the Little Sir

Today was a very special day for our Little Sir.  Today we celebrated his….

First Communion

His first time participating in the Lord’s Supper

Matthew 26:26-28
While they were eating, Jesus took bread, blessed it, broke it, and gave it to the disciples and said, “Take and eat. This is my body.” He took a cup, gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, “Drink from this, all of you. This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many so that their sins may be forgiven.

And being welcomed into the church
(we love Christ Central!)
as a full member

Ephesians 2:19-22
So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints, and are of God’s household, having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus Himself being the corner stone, in whom the whole building, being fitted together, is growing into a holy temple in the Lord,
in whom you also are being built together into a dwelling of God in the Spirit.

He took a class with 14 of his buddies leading up to this day.

And he has been looking forward to taking part in communion for a long time.

So today felt really sweet and signifigant!

Isaiah 53:5
He was pierced because of our rebellions and crushed because of our crimes.  He bore the punishment that made us whole; by his wounds we are healed.

1 John 1:7
But if we live in the light in the same way as he is in the light, we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from every sin.

Pastor Evan gave the greatest welcome, and the church family whooped and hollered and cheered for them.  Because today is a day worth celebrating!

1 Corinthians 10:16-17
Is not the cup of blessing which we bless a sharing in the blood of Christ? Is not the bread which we break a sharing in the body of Christ? Since there is one bread, we who are many are one body; for we all partake of the one bread.

1 Corinthians 12:25-26
…So that there may be no division in the body, but that the members may have the same care for one another. And if one member suffers, all the members suffer with it; if one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it.

Grandparents came too, and loved on our boy well.

Mark 9:37
Jesus said, “Anyone who welcomes a little child like this on my behalf welcomes me, and anyone who welcomes me welcomes not only me but also my Father who sent me.”

We love you, Little Sir William!

And we are so thrilled to walk with you and to cheer you on as you continue your journey of faith.

May you always know that you are SEEN and KNOWN and LOVED by the Lord!

First Day(ish) of School ~ 2022-2023!

Today is Dayspring Academy’s first day of school!

Well, kinda…sorta…not quite.

We’ve actually been in school mode since August 16, doing all sorts of neat-o learning, competing, coaching, and project-ing kinds of stuff.

However!!!!

Hear ye, hear ye…

Today is actually the first day my fabulous

6th grader Little Miss
4th grader Little Mister
and 3rd grader Little Sir

ALL enter a (Deerstream!) classroom, wearing pants with waistbands that button and backpacks filled with paper, pencils and oodles of snacks.

Look out world!  These (fully clothed AND shod) Little Wrights are comin’ for ya!

(By the way, we are frequently…pretty much always!…clothed.  Just more often barefoot and adorned in outfits that streeeeeeeeeeeetch!)

Psalm 1:1-3
(Wright-ified)

Blessed are the big and little Wrights
who walk not in the counsel of the wicked,
nor stand in the way of sinners,
nor sit in the seat of scoffers;
but their delight is in the word of the Lord,
and on His law they meditate day and night.

They are like trees
planted by streams of water
that yield their fruit in its season,
and their leaf does not wither.
In all that they do, they prosper.
[…and grow and learn and flourish!]

Thanks be to God!
Be near us this year!
