It takes TWO to make a thing go right!

The Little Miss and Little Mister are 23 months apart.  When I share that fact with people, I get one of two responses…

#1 – “Yikes!  You are a busy woman!”
(Thank you, Captain Obvious.  I hadn’t noticed.)

#2 – “Oh that’s so wonderful!  They’ll play together and be best friends!”
(Sounds great, Rose-Colored-Glasses-Lady.  Too bad that won’t happen for a while.  A looooonnnnggg while.)

Truth be told, though they may run me ragged most days, I am thrilled to be the Mama of two little ones.  They are both ridiculously sweet and joyful, and love each other so much already (in their own special ways).  But the Little Mister is still very young and immobile (read: breakable!), and the Little Miss is still learning how to contain her enthusiasm and play with him gently.

We have a ways to go.  But, they’ll get there…hopefully without giving me too many heart attacks in the meantime.  And I pray that as she learns, and he grows, they DO become great, lifelong pals.

Here are some photos of our Big Sis and Little Bro from the past 3 1/2 months.  It’s amazing to look back and see how much they have grown and changed in such a short time!

And here’s a video snapshot of life with the Little Bubbas.  It’s overwhelming to think about how much I adore these two little people!

The Little Mister is 3 Months Old!

My sweet baby boy turned 3 months old today!

It’s crazy to think that just 3 months ago this Little Bundle of Joy came into our lives.  He is so precious, and we all love watching him grow and become more aware of the world around him.

Here are some fun tidbits about our Little Rock Star…

– He loves to smile!  He gets this big grin from ear to ear when you smile at him.

– He also loves to “coo,” and can be quite the conversationalist (just like his Big Sis!).

– He is VERY active.  His favorite thing to do is stand and bounce on your lap as he looks around the room.  He also loves laying on his playmat, and batting at the animals overhead.  And when he does “tummy-time,” he nearly pushes himself off of the blanket with his strong little legs.

– He’s becoming a better sleeper.  His favorite place to sleep is in the carrier on Mommy, but he’s becoming more comfortable in his crib. In fact, he usually sleeps from 7pm to 7am, with only one feeding in between!

– He adores his Big Sister.  He’ll watch her with these big blue eyes as she plays and dances around him.  He gives her the biggest smiles…just so long as she isn’t smothering him with hugs and kisses, or squealing too close to his ear.

– He is fascinated with his hands.  We’ll put toys within his grasp and he’ll stare at his hands in amazement like, “are these really mine?!?”  Whenever he’s not holding a toy, he’s usually trying to shove his fists into his mouth.  It looks like we might have another thumb-sucker in the family!

– He’s our Little Lover Boy!  There is NO WHERE he’d rather be than in his Mama and Daddy’s arms.  And when he’s not cuddling, he is standing on our laps, covering our faces in big sloppy kisses.

Here’s a video of our Little Guy, hard at work at tummy time…

First Day of Preschool!

The Little Miss reached a HUGE milestone today…she attended her first day of preschool!  That’s right, our Little Miss is now a “Little Duckling” in Miss Pam’s 2-year-old class at Triangle Presbyterian Preschool.

It’s official.  My little girl has grown up (sob!).

So what’s a proud, weepy parent to do on this very special and important day?  Why, take a photo of the new Little Scholar, of course!

Well…that is, if the Little Scholar is willing.  Which she wasn’t.

So, after a good deal of asking, followed by outright begging, we were able to capture a few shots before the Little Miss Rebel headed off to school.

Despite our somewhat frustrating beginnings, the rest of the morning went really well.  After arriving at school, the Little Miss walked confidently and excitedly into her classroom.  She barely had time to give her (despairing) Mama a hug and a kiss before she grabbed a seat at the play-dough table.

And what about the end of the morning?  How was the Little Scholar when I picked her up, you wonder?  Why, bubbly as ever, of course!  When I arrived she gave her teacher a big hug and then bounded out of the room, full of news about her day.  And by “news” I mean 2-year-old jibber jabber.  So while I have no idea what she actually said (or did, for that matter), I am sure that it was all super fun and positive.

Hooray!

When Daddy came home from work we tried one more time to commemorate the day with a (cheerful) photo of our Little Preschooler.  She may not have been wearing pants, but whatever.  We’ll take what we can get!

(Showing off her first art project…a paper duckling!)

(I think she looks way too grown up here.  Where’d my baby go?!?)

(Love, Love, Love)

We are SO PROUD of our Little Miss!

And not to be forgotten, the Little Mister had a great day too.  He may have wailed the ENTIRE time he was in his carseat, causing his Mama all sorts of undue stress, but he was perfectly happy the rest of the day!
