Welcome to the Crazy, Little Sir

Dearest Little Sir,

Boy do we love you.  And we are so glad that you’ve joined our family.  Sure, you may be causing Daddy and me to get far less sleep than we’d like right now, but that’s okay.  You’re worth it.

But I digress.  I wanted to write you a little note to forewarn you about the crazy that you have come into.  Because let’s be honest, our family is a whole lotta crazy.  And wild and messy and loopy and fun.

If you don’t believe me, just ask your siblings…

Ahhh, your siblings.  Where do I begin?  In short, my dear boy, they are OUT OF CONTROL.

I mean, in just the past 2 days I have caught them playing in the bathtub (fully dressed!) while they covered themselves in conditioner; drawing all over their arms, feet, faces and the office chair in highlighter pen; and using hand soap to do finger-painting on the bathroom walls!

Did I mention the OUT OF CONTROL part yet?  Ay caramba!  I can’t even begin to think what kinds of kooky tricks they are going to teach you when you grow up…

Your Daddy and I will do our very best to protect you from the nuttiness that abounds in our home…at least while you’re small.  But thanks to your propensity for late-night bonding sessions we’re oh-so tired and sleep deprived, so we can’t make any promises.

M12

The good news is that your Big Sis and Bro love you – and each other – so very very much.

M13

And teamed up with them I know you are going to have ridiculous amounts of FUN in the days and years ahead.

M14

So welcome to the family, Little Sir.  Your Daddy and I look forward to watching you grow and take on the world, all with the help and encouragement of your Big Sister and Brother.

So go forth.  Be wild.  Have fun.

Just try not to burn the house down in the process.

Love,
Your Devoted (and Overwhelmed) Mama

P.S.  Just to further emphasize my point, I’ve included a little video for your viewing pleasure.

Snow Day – Love Day

This past week North Carolina (and most of the east coast) was hit with a big snow storm.  The kids were thrilled, while Daddy and I were a bit wary.  Because lemme tell you, folks, no one who is uber pregnant and nearing her due date wants to be stuck in a snow storm.  Just ask that poor lady in Atlanta.

But Baby #3 behaved him/herself and stayed put, while his/her siblings had a blast playing outside in the snow.

After a lot of snowball and sledding revelry, Mike and the kids worked on this masterpiece…

While I did some “nesting” outside and burned off a bit of my anxious energy.

It would have all been fine, if not for a certain Hubby outing me to the doctor after I had promised that I had been taking it easy.  I mean seriously folks, I’m really pregnant…and a pregnant gal has got to nest!

Though in Mike’s defense, we did have to spend 3 hours at the hospital on Friday so they could run some tests and make sure that the baby was okay.  Now rest assured, this had absolutely nothing to do with my little dance with the snow shovel.  And all of the tests confirmed that Baby #3 is fine and moving around like a Little Champ.  So as I see it… no harm – no foul.

After our chilly playtime we warmed up with some Valentines’ Day pancakes and treats…

Now I’d like to make it publicly known that despite my forthcoming baby explosion AND the mighty snow storm, I still managed to buy my Honey a card and a few little gifts.  He, on the other hand, had nothing but a big smile for me.  Let’s just all remember this and remind a certain Tall Red Haired Man that he owes me.  Particularly after I deliver him his third child.

But I digress.  Back to the Littles.  We wrapped up our snow-love days with lots of crazy play indoors (emphasis on the crazy), more nesting, and a bit of “princess time.”

As you can see, the Little Mister was not coerced in anyway, but rather was pleased as punch to get to play this game with his Big Sis.  What a (lovely Little) Goof.

So we survived the big snowstorm of 2014 with most of our sanity intact.  The kids loved it, and we loved not racing through the snow and ice to get to the hospital.

But stay tuned, people.  That day is just around the corner!

The Little Mister is 18 Months Old! (and counting…)

Truth be told, as I write this post my darling Little Mister is actually 19 months old.  But I seem to run slow doing everything these days (time to play the pregnancy card!), so it’s only fitting that this post is also a wee bit tardy…

That aside, I must gush about our sweet Little Boy who is growing in leaps and bounds!  Literally!  The poor kid injures himself at least once a week.  Let’s just say that his adventurous spirit cannot be harnessed.
…And that I should probably have the Duke ER on speed-dial.

As I learned at his last doctor’s appointment, the Little Mister continues to follow in his Daddy’s footsteps…

…Particularly in the height department.  He measures in at a whopping 90.2 cm, or above the 100th percentile!  The doc actually said “whoa!” when he saw that stat, and told me that puts our Little Basketball Star at about 6’4″ by the time he’s 20.  (His weight is 27lb 13oz, or 86%).

And that’s only fitting because our Little Guy loves his Daddy so.  Despite the fact that I carried him for 40 weeks + 3 days, endured an emergency appendectomy during his pregnancy, and nursed him well into his second year, Daddy is his role model and favorite person in the whole wide world.

Well, just so long as Teddy (the dog) isn’t nearby.

But worry not, my faithful fans.  The Little Mister does, in fact, possess some of his wonderful Mama’s traits as well.

(And that’s a good thing, seeing as though the blend of Daddy’s big head and my slightly small one resulted in his head circumference being smack dab in the middle – 47.8 cm or 57%.)

…Particularly when it comes to his sparkling personality and gift of gab.

Oh, and his hair.  He got stuck (I mean blessed!) with my hair too.

J6

And yet, despite all of our genetic “claims” to the Little Man, at the end of the day he has a personality all his own and is truly one of a kind.

And boy do we LOVE HIM SO!!!
