School Daze

It’s the middle of summer and I’m reminiscing – nay dreaming! – about our glorious school days.  Oh preschool, how I love thee.

Anyhoo, I’ve been meaning to post some final photos from this past school year.  Photos that I like to affectionately call:

Yep, These Are Definitely The Children Of Julie

We’ll start with the Little Miss and the Little Mister in their class photos, and their mastery of what my sister Ashley has nicknamed “The Julie Bum Face” (definition: to appear in a photo utterly dazed, dismayed, or befuddled…particularly when compared with others in said photo who are obnoxiously bright-eyed and bushy-tailed).

And then we’ll move along to the photos of their class trip to the strawberry farm.

We started the day commemorating our inner goofy-ness (oh yes, I’m sure that’s a word)…

And then took on the strawberry patch with as much verve and gusto as we could muster…

Well, most of us did.

Our enthusiasm lasted a whole walloping 5 minutes, until we were all super red-faced and sweaty…and so opted to abandon our energetic quest for some shade and sustenance (SNACK TIME!!!).

Oh, and some fun bonding time with friends (in the SHADE!!!).  We can never get enough friend time.

Yep, those are my babies.  My progeny.  My Lil Chips off the Ole Block…

Dazed and confused, full of heart and enthusiasm, and definitely not made to be farmers.

The Little Sir is Walking!

Hey world.  It’s me.  The Little Sir.

A28

So I’m 14 months old now and Mama has been on my case to start walking.  I took my first steps about a month ago, but I haven’t been all that committed to it.  Mama keeps telling me that I need to start walking so that I can keep up with the Little Miss and Little Mister this summer.

A29

But whatev.  I mean, I’ve figured…who needs to walk?  I’m a pretty chill Little Dude and I don’t like to over-exert myself.  All I’ve ever had to do was crawl over to Mama, pull on her pant legs, flash her my sweetest baby boy smile, and BOO-YA!  She’d pick me up and carry me wherever I wanted to go.  So as I’ve seen it, walking was for chumps!

And yet time marches on, and my laziness could only hold out so long.  As my good buddy Willy Shakespeare once said, “What strong hand can hold his swift foot back?…O, none, unless this miracle have might.”

And so this week, with a bit of cajoling from my parents, this happened…

.

And so there you have it folks.  I’m a-walkin’.  And a-talkin’.  But lest you think my parents got the better of me, let me assure you that I still reign as the Lil Sir Boss Man in this house.  And I’ve still got my Mama wrapped around all ten of my chubby baby boy fingers.  BOO-YA!

Though don’t let his sweetness fool you. With each passing milestone the boy is showing us that he possesses a wellspring of personality, determination and opinions.

And he ain’t afraid to tap into it.
